The Center for Behavioral and Nutritional Health at Greenwich Hospital is seeking a per diem registered dietitian to work in support of its nutritional counseling and diabetes management programs. The Center for Behavioral & Nutritional Health is a hospital-based, offsite outpatient program offering nutritional and psychological services for the management of acute and chronic health conditions including diabetes and other endocrine disorders, cardiovascular conditions, obesity, gastroenterological diseases, chronic pain, neurological conditions, and psychological disorders. The registered dietitian will provide consultation, assessment and management of medical nutrition therapy for program participants, collaborating with healthcare providers to improve the health and quality of life of the individual.

Responsibilities

  1. Providing individual and group nutrition counseling, including dietary assessment based on the American Dietetic Association recommendations
  2. Maintaining patient records and progress reports to physicians
  3. Utilizing adjunct services to assist in education, counseling, behavior modification and stress reduction
  4. Program development in collaboration with clinical psychologists, physicians, and certified diabetes educators
  5. Providing lectures and other events in the hospital and community
  6. Active outreach with the local medical community
  7. Maintaining professional knowledge base by membership and regular attendance at in-service programs, workshops and symposia

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

MS preferred or BS in Food and Nutrition and matriculation in an MS program (in Nutrition or related discipline)

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Five years of experience in a medical setting, preferably as a clinical dietitian in a medical setting.

 

LICENSURE

 

Connecticut Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD); Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) encouraged but not required

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Excellent public speaking and organizational skills; past experience with diabetes, bariatric surgery, and pediatric populations preferred; and extensive experience with behavior modification.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

Moderate physical effort with some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting. Standing and walking most of the day.
