Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are preformed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• 1. Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, utilizing appropriate protocols and age specific standards.
• 1.1 Verifies physician(s) order on requisitions 100% of the time.
• 2. Operates radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results.
• 2.1 Conducts daily inspection of radiographic equipment to ensure proper performance and image quality.
• 3. Prepares examination room to ensure a clean and safe environment with adequate supplies to ensure efficient and accurate performance of exams.
• 3.1 Replaces any unused supplies immediately after patient is dismissed.
• 4. Performs quality and compassionate patient care, utilizing appropriate age specific standards to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction
• 4.1 Thoroughly explains the procedure to ensure patient physical and emotional comfort.
• 5. Performs various record keeping, customer service functions, and communicates feedback to ensure the goals of the practice are met and operations run efficiently.
• 5.1 Accurately edits and completes all examinations to ensure proper medical record documentation and billing.
• 6. Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
• 6.1 Receptive to teaching new technologists, students, and residents.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program. AS degree required.

EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography. RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification.

LICENSURE

All certifications for American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Proficient in routine Radiography CR/Digital imaging techniques, above average knowledge of computer/Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication/customer service skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
