Responsible for assisting physicians/providers with patient care, rooming patients, as well as clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the practice services. Conveys a positive image of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Effectively works in collaboration with providers and clinical/clerical staff to provide direct/indirect care to patients and families.
    • 1.1 Primary role would be assisting physicians in their day to day activities.
  • 2. Performs administrative responsibilities as assigned.
    • 2.1 Sends/receives patient medical records and abstracts new patient records into EPIC.
  • 3. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's / area's/ department's policies and procedures.
  • 4. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

High School Graduate or equivalent. Completion of a medical assisting program and certification required.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Experience working in a psychiatric setting preferred

 

LICENSURE

 

Medical Assisting Certification required

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Excellent, organizational, communication, customer service and teamwork skills required. Ability to multi-task is essential. EMR experience preferred and working knowledge of Microsoft office applications required. Bilingual preferred but not required. Core philosophy or values consistent with a patient-centered approach to care. Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal and nonverbal communication with patients, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinical image.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

Pleasant office setting. Standing, sitting and walking most of the day and working with lightweight equipment. The job is rated with a light physical demand level. There is moderate amount of stress dealing with a corporate environment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
